RE: "Community Channel" How does Natalie Tran do it?

This is a response to a blogpost Cheer made regarding Natalie Tran or communitychannel as the YouTube community knows her as. If you're interested in checking her blogpost out, its right here!

I think Cheer's right to say that Natalie is engaging, but I think her engagement with her audience goes beyond just getting them involved during her porno music/comment time. Personally I watch Natalie because I feel her WHOLE video engages me. She talks about events that happens so regularly  to me, (I would say everybody, but hey, I could be the other awkward animal in the world) and makes a hilarious video out of it.

I mean, just looking at the list of videos she has done, I've probably either done or observed 75% of them. For example, I'm sure you guys can relate to me when I say that my parents used to threaten the seven year old me by counting to three. Or wonder what all the math you've been studying till now is for.

Furthermore, Natalie is famous for her monologs. Something I truly enjoy as well. It breaks up the boring presentation type Vlogs alot of people do. Other YouTubers employ different techniques such as random humor, but I feel Natalie's monologs gives her versatility in delivery.

Making YouTube videos have become somewhat of an art/science. There are things the general mass look out for. So much so that there has been a game show on YouTube itself looking for the next Internet Icon, and there are judges to determine the success of the videos.Judges Ryan Higa (Nigahiga) and Christine Lakin along with various guest judges (i.e jennamarbles, kassem G) comment regularly on engaging the audience, and delivering the message it seems like if any of them wrote a journal article citing the top 5 things to do in must do in a YouTube video, it would definitely make the list.

Personally regardless of what type of videos you're doing, I feel that they should include a good storyline, one that people either can relate to, or believe to be true. Do you guys agree with me? If not, what else do you guys think should be part of a good video?

  1. Hi Malcolm, Thanks for the response to my blog post :)
I agree with you. no matter what types of video, I think the successful video needs something that people can relate to. If they can relate to your video, you can say that you already win half of the battle - at least you can ensure that they will stay and watch your video till the end, not turn it off in the middle. and if they like, they might share or even subscribe. But first, you must relate to them, make sure that they're still with you.

(Example would be clearly seen from... why people just break up like to listen to broken heart song or people who are in love like to listen to lovey dovey song~ because they can relate to it! lol)
